STRONGSVILLE, OH – Nov. 19, 2025 – Scepter Publishers announced today that it has acquired the English-language rights to the Navarre Bible from Four Courts Press of Dublin, Ireland. The acquisition transfers publishing rights for all formats of the renowned biblical commentary series’ English translation to Scepter, which has served as the North American distributor since the translation was originally published by Four Courts in 2000.
The Navarre Bible, compiled by the theology faculty of the University of Navarre in Spain, is widely regarded as one of the premier Catholic biblical commentaries available today. The project was initiated by St. Josemaría Escrivá, founder of Opus Dei and the university's first chancellor, in the early 1970s. The series features extensive commentary drawing on Church documents, writings of the Fathers and Doctors of the Church, and prominent spiritual writers, presented alongside the Revised Standard Version (Catholic Edition) texts.
"The Navarre Bible has been central to Scepter's mission of helping Catholics find God in their ordinary lives," said Robert Singerline, president of Scepter Publishers. "This acquisition allows us to serve readers more effectively and to invest in improvements that will make these invaluable resources even more accessible to everyday Catholics seeking to deepen their understanding of Scripture."
Scepter plans to introduce updated bindings designed for practical use, reflecting the publisher's commitment to making the series practical for daily spiritual reading and study.
Founded in 1952, Scepter Publishers produces books and media that help Christians worldwide live sanctity in their everyday lives. The Navarre Bible joins Scepter's catalog of works by authors including St. Josemaría Escrivá, Fr. Jacques Philippe, and Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen.
