El Rev. James Socias, sacerdote de la Prelatura del Opus Dei, nació en Barcelona, España, en 1939. Se doctoró en Ingeniería Naval por la Universidad de Madrid. Después de haber trabajado como ingeniero durante trece años, fue ordenado sacerdote en España en 1978 y obtuvo su doctorado en derecho canónico por la Universidad de Navarra. Como sacerdote, ha desarrollado su labor pastoral entre profesionales, profesorado universitario, pastoral universitaria, seminaristas y sacerdotes.
